MIL-E-19141D
3.3.4 Core wire alloy identity. Each end of rod or wire to be spliced
during processing shall be tested for alloy identity (see 4.4.9), except when
splicing is done to repair a wire break without removing the wire from the
process line. Both ends of each coil drawn to finish size shall be tested for
alloy identity (see 4.4.9) prior to cutting into electrode core wire lengths.
3.3.5 Covered electrode alloy identity. When specified (see 6.2.1), the
core wire of each covered electrode shall be tested for alloy identity after
final marking in accordance with 4.4.9.
3.4 Soundness.
The weld metal surface shall be free of porosity visible
to the unaided eye.
3.5 Linear and non-linear indications. Macro-surfaces of specimens
prepared in accordance with 4.4.5 shall meet the acceptance standards for
linear and non-linear indications for class 2 welds as specified in NAVSEA
0900-LP-003-8000 . No lack of bond is permitted.
3.6 Chemical composition of deposited weld metal. Chemical composition
of deposited weld metal shall be as specified in table IV.
